problem with techinque or the cream?

ok so i have only used my de razor and brush 3 times now...

first time..BS Maca Root...couldnt get my brush to make a later, it just seemed to wipe away...so i hand lathered as i was doing prior to owning a brush

I came back to the site and "brushed-up" by reading the FAQ on face lathering

then I tried CO Bigelow Eucalyptus the next day...i was able to brush up a nice thick lather with no problem...

day three came, I went back to the Maca Root thinking I had it down....and had the same problem as day 1...

so was it me? or the cream?

tomorrow, i try proraso red and the brush...

any help would be aprreciated

Scott,

I haven't used the latest Body Shop Maca Root but I have never had any issues with the previous version of their cream. Can you describe your technique?

I followed the wiki from this site, I read it over and over...
like i said, worked fine with CO Bigelow, but twice a fail with Maca Root

i have been using Body shop creams for years (both incarnations) have always applied with my hand, I guess my stubble is coarse enough to act as its own brush and I can whip up a nice lather with my hand alone, so its still a usable product for me...

The water:product ratio differs greatly between products. So if you have having an issues one of the first attempts at a remedy is to add more product. If that doesn't work try more water. If neither work...try another product.

you hit it! more product did the trick, thanks!

i need to get the balance right tho, with a hand lather, you needn't much at all to get great coverage, when i added more, i had way too much of a good thing, probably could have re-painted two or three more times, and since i am a noob, i am only doing one pass wtg currently...(i did reapply one spot for a touch up, carefully today)

Good job on figuring it out. I have not tried the new version of Body Shop cream yet, as I normally use soaps.

Good deal. The sweet spot can not be far off now. You will be able to hit the spot much quicker with a bit of experience. Patience and practice is all that is needed.
