Problem finding a good bathrobe

I looked at the other threads about bathrobes but I didn't have any luck finding what I needed. I am looking for a full length robe that will keep me warm in the winter (it gets wicked cold in Korea, I'm told). I'm 5'3" and the one that looked good at Lands End didn't come in a small. Does anyone have any good suggestions of a bathrobe that might fit this bill?

I almost pulled my hair out looking for a plush cotton robe last year, until some lady friends gave me two tips:

  • If you're looking in a department store, get out of the clothing departments and go to the towels/bathroom department.
  • Bed Bath & Beyond.

I bought a cheap Egyptian cotton one off ebay for the winter just passed. It had quite a few thread always hanging off it but it was soft and warm.

sierratradingpost.com has a few men's robes in S, and they provide measurements for each item. They ship to South Korea.

I love the robe my wife got me for Christmas. It came from Dillard's. I'll check the brand and post it later. Perhaps they still carry it. It's not heavyweight but I still find it comfortable year round.

I'm 5'5" so what I have should fit you comfortably.

One other option to consider is the PJs and housecoat combo. It's a bit dressier than just a bathrobe, and you can be actually seen by the general public ... okay, any guests you have visiting your home ... without seeming to be underdressed.

Brooks Bros. makes a good set of PJs, and the Pendleton 'washable wool' housecoat is great.

Throw on some leather or shearling slippers, and you are all set to smoke a pipe ... very old school. This is how every father should be dressed on Christmas morning when his kids are opening presents. :thumbup1:

I got a couple of Adidas bathrobes, one in white and one in navy blue. They have hoods too. Very nice, thick and fluffy, unless you're allergic to the three stripes..

I am not sure what your budget for the robe is but Pendleton makes a fine wool robe that will last for many years. I have two, one of which is about 25 years old and looks like new. Lands End is another possibility.

Cheers,

Doug

The brand is Majestic. Size is Small.
