Pre-Vulfix Simpsons Two-Band, and Lamp Black

Hey guys! Just picked this Pre-Vulfix Simpsons CH1 in Super up off the B/S/T, and MAN is it a great little brush.
Insanely dense with tons of backbone, this is a real workhorse of a brush. And did I mention it's drop-dead gorgeous?

However, I didn't just post to show off! I've got two questions for the Simpsons experts out there:
  1. Is this a Two-band brush? It looks like one, and feels like one, but since I've never used a Pre-Vulfix Simpsons in Two-band I can't be sure...
[*]The lamp black lettering seems a bit faded. How durable is this stuff? Can I use the handle as I please without fear of it coming off, or should I be more careful with it?

Looks two band to me! I've never had one of these older ones ...but a whole slew of members do...wait a few minutes and somebody will jump in :)

Looks like a two band to me as well. The lamp black often faded and the Simpson sticker usually fell off the pre Vulfix model. Think of it as "character". You nailed a very nice brush. Enjoy!!

Classic. This is a shaving brush!

+1. That is a nice looking Simpson. I imagine the lamp black eventually fades leaving behind the name impression.

Here is a crop from the old catalog showing how each letter was hammered by hand back in Somerset. Most of the brushes that have already been stamped are the 2 band variety.

Great two-band you got there. :thumbup1:

I don't believe the lamp black (like the original stickers) was meant to be permanent. It fades over time naturally. I rather like how it does that.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

Glad to hear that I snagged a rare brush without even knowing it!
