Play between baseplate and handle for vintage TTO

Hi all

I have a TTO razor which is I think a superspeed and aristocrat that have some play between the baseplate and the handle.

Is there a way to fix this? Does the recrimp above the knob (which is the drop knob fix , will it solve this issue?

Or is the base plate suppose to be stamp with the handle and the only way to fix this is to glue or weld them?

Thank you in advance.

My suggestion is to post a picture of the problem, and maybe someone might have some suggestions.

The play is around the pointed area....
Not too sure how to fix it..

It can rotate slightly .

Usually the base plate will feel as though it is fixed on the handle, but not this one.

What do you mean by re-swaged?
Swaging is like crimping but the internal metal is deformed to meet the outer piece, not the other way around. A special tool is needed, just the right size, and the T-bar will need to be removed in order to do it right. Either by hammering a tapered tool or expanding the neck of the handle in another way so it will grip the brass baseplate again.

I know some members have done this and perhaps one will chime in and explain the process better. Not sure about any restoration service guys, I haven't heard of them doing it but you could ask.

Look up metal flaring, swaging, and crimping in your spare time. Meanwhile, go easy on that Aristocrat.

Thank you so much for the information , from what I gathered , is better for me to leave or alone...
