Platinum coating

Are platinum coated razor blades really coated with platinum? That's an awefully expensive and rare metal to put on a 20 cent razor blade.

As far as I know, yes. But any modern blade coating is very, very thin: just a few atoms wide on the final bevel and edge of the blade. As far as cost of good sold, my guess is the wrappers and blade packs probably rank higher.
