Most people store them on a stand. The important thing is that it is allowed to dry out properly after use.

I use an antique rack that I was gifted for XMAS. I know pouches exist for transporting tobacco, I'm sure it couldn't hurt a pipe as long as the pipe was dry and cool when stored.

I use a pipe pouch that has space for 2 pipes a lighter some pipe cleaners and a pocket for tobacco that I carry around in my bag. At home storage I just keep them on the shelf, been meaning to get a pipe rack eventually though

Boris, I would be interested in knowing were you got the pouch from.

Thanks to all for your responses

I believe pouches are best used for temporary transport while you're "out and about" or when traveling. There are many types available from various sources such as SmokingPipes, Pipesandcigars, Amazon, etc. I've had my eye one this http://www.amazon.com/Peterson-Clas...UTF8&colid=2CZ64BH8YUPRP&coliid=IQANJZ6AE0PET or the two pipe verion, but have yet to pull the trigger.

I have the 2 pipe version and love it. It's good for 2 straight stem pipes but can get crowded with a bent stem. I tried to remove the extra image but could not.

Normally I just use a stand around the house and stick it in my pocket when out and about. I've seen some two compartment tobacco pouches with the second pouch intended for the pipe, but with my luck I'd get one that none of my pipes fit into.

Thanks for the leads, they look nice just a little pricy for me right now. I'm try to find a way to store it with out it just sitting out. I guess that's not the best idea. Hmmm any suggestions?

I use a pouch when traveling, keeps everything close at hand. I bought mine from my local tobacconist too

It'll be fine just sitting out somewhere. Hit up a antique mall. Every one I go to has at least one stand. I quit using my 2 pipe case when I'd go out because by the time you put everything inside of it, it was the size of a hoagie, and I looked like I was carrying a little purse.

Now when I go out one pipe, a bag of tobacco, cleaners, lighter, and pipe tool get thrown in a pipe sock and can fit in a pocket.

I just use a roll-up type of tobacco pouch and pocket the rest of the implements when out and about. Unless I've just dumped a new pouch of Carter Hall in the roll up it's a decent carry size. Some guys use an Altoids tin for the cleaners, lighter, etc. and you can carry a bowl or two of tobacco in it.

Most of all, don't overthink it. It's a pipe, not a rocket.

Then again, a quart size zip lock freezer bag works OK too. Baccy in a sandwich bag.

I just picked up a 4 pipe rack from an antique co-op place for $8, included a tobacco jar and a space on the rack for it.

Thats a nice find. I went to 4 thrift stores today and noda so I'll gone to the bay and try. I did get a mason Jar for 52 cents to store future baccy perchases.
