Pipe crack repair question

Gents,

If a pipe is cracked all the way through the bowl say midway down, is that fixable at all? Will pipe paste and a proper and careful cake built up render it useable, or is it totally done for?

Pipe Paste?? If you are referring to pipe mud then no, pipe mud will not be a complete fix. It really can be fixed as long as the crack isn't super wide. If it is more than a hairline crack then you can use epoxy to fill in the crack. Fill the crack and wipe off the excess from the bowl with a damp rag and let dry. You can sand down the epoxy so that it will be flush with the outside of the bowl. You may consider a complete refurb of the outside of the bowl. New stain after this to help match. The epoxy will not take the stain, but you can use a marker to help blend in the repair. When the epoxy is dry put your pipe mud inside the bowl where the crack is. Fill it in slowly. Fill it half way and let dry. Repeat. Pipe mud is susceptible to cracking if you build it up to fast. Allow 24 hours drying of the mud. When all is said and done then the pipe should be fine. No promises though. Good luck and keep us updated...
