What's new

Pinaud Clubman

ok guys, maybe you can help me figure this out. I hear a lot of people talking about how good this stuff is... so naturally I go and get some... I shaved, splashed some on my face and felt like Kevin from Home Alone... AHHHHH:scared:

Then I look at the ingredients, and the first one is alcohol. Everything I have read says to stay away from alcohol. So yes, it smells great and SWMBO loves it, but hurts my face after a shave. Granted, I got a few nics since I'm still a noob, but whats the deal? Someone please elaborate...

thanks :thumbup1:

Once your shaving technique improves you will have fewer nicks and weepers. This will make the AS burn less when applied. It will get better. I promise.

Hmmm, well, I think most aftershaves do contain alcohol as the first or second ingredient, what are you used to for an aftershave? Maybe something with some glycerin or propylene glycol would be easier on your face, but man, that Clubman is good stuff and I would bet your face will get used to it.

I love clubman. It is a staple in my shaves and also I love the burn. The burn is getting less as my technique gets better but still there and it is great.

This won't help with the burn, but it will help with your skin and make it feel better perhaps. Add a little glycerin.

I love the face feel of Aqua Velva and noted it has glycerin in it. Clubman does not. So, I ran out to the drugstore and got some of this - cheeeep.

I decant my Clubman into glass and add 1.5 drops per ounce, and find that is just right for me. Others have posted this and like a bit more, maybe 2 drops per ounce. Some put a drop in their palm and shake the AS into their hand and use it that way, but that's too much for my tastes. Play around with this, it may help.

Clubman is truly the king of aftershaves.

I got moves like Jagger
I'm almost done my bottle (Will get more!) and I think I've felt the burn only 6-8 times, 2 of which were today and yesterday.

If it is burning like that, your shave has gone wrong. Alcohol splashes only really sting the places you have damaged the skin.

Yeah its only like my 3rd week wet shaving. Still working on my technique. Had a few weepers:001_unsur, but it was (all things considered) a DFS.:biggrin1:

perhaps it is also worth mentioning that I was using a 1964 Gillette Tech, switching from a Parker 90r. They are a bit different and that took some getting used to. However, I really love my Muhle89.... sigh...decisions. my goal is to get to the point where it doesnt matter which one I use and I still get that BBS:001_tt2: but this will take time, i know.
