Pics Of The New Georgetown Pottery Scuttle(g3)

send me a sketch or pic to [email protected], and Ill see what we can do, it may be possible, but often times a thick handle doesnt do well in ceramics b/c it holds moisture, and will explode in the kiln......it cant hurt to take a look. Shipping charges to Hawaii are extra, and are dependent on the weight of the scuttle.

Thanks!

I'll see if I can find pictures to send you of what I like. A bulb handle might be a bit problematic for a firing. Do you think it's possible to make a scuttle style bowl light enough (porcelain?) to float in a full sink of hot water? It probably would be too smooth though huh?

I used to throw a lot of bowls. If you ever come to Hawaii try going to the annual Raku Ho'olaulea festival

A three day blast of pot making and camping on the beach at Kualoa on O'ahu. I miss thowing on a wheel, the heat of a firing kiln, and squishing slip between my fingers. I haven't found a potters guild here in Hilo yet.

Our scuttles are double walled, so they hold hot water eliminating the floating bowl prcocess, you can add hot tap h20, or boiling water. Several wet shaving community members that have our scuttle also whip lather in our scuttle b/c it is durable and heavy enough instead of doing a lather transfer. Porcelain has too many variable to really make float properly..........send some pics of a bulb handle when you can.........we may be able to hollow out the center....
