Picked up the Kingsley soap bowl for my MWF (Pics)

I decided to pick up a refill puck of MWF to try it out and wanted a bowl to put it in but didn't want to spend $20-30 for the ceramic bowl. I decided to try out the Kingsley soap bowl on Amazon for $4. I'm really happy with it! I think it looks much better in real life than the Amazon pic. The MWF milled into it nicely and I was able to pack it down easily with just my thumbs. I couldn't quite get the whole puck in there though. Here's some pics of it.

I've been using the Kingsly bowls for quite a while.

They are one of the best kept secrets in the wet shaving world

I have a handful of them as well and love them. I will continue to use them. One tip is to let them sit out for a few days after you get them to let the stain or lacquer smell go away.

I had one and got rid of it. The stain/lac inside the bowl started peeling off and mixing into my soap. It actually stained the edges of the puck brown!

I have MWF in a wooden bowl that came with it, it is nice and the lacquer/finish stays put in hot water, etc. (an issue some wooden bowls seem to have sometimes), still looks as nice as day one and 2/3 of the soap is used by now . . . hopefully it lasts well enough for many replacement pucks . . . we will see

I use an empty tin of Mike's soap for my MWF. I like a flatter puck so I actually cut the puck in half so it is half the thickness. I then stick it to the bottom of the tin and this give me plenty of room to load up my brush without lather overflowing over the sides. The other benefit (for the OCD in me) is that the puck wears down evenly without forming a donut out of the puck.

Picked up 1 of these a while ago when my friend was living in the US. I want another but too bad they don't ship to Canada!

everyday im thankful for B&B! i've been looking for bowls to melt my VDH pucks in. BOOM

Glad to have helped! Btw, B&B bought out the source on Amazon that was selling them for $4 as well as the source selling for $9. So know they are on the 3rd reseller for $13! So that's why you might notice a discrepancy in the price from when I originally linked. Just wait until they restock or buy from the bay.

Hi folks... New wet shaver here.. Are these bowls for lathering or only for storing the soap? My starter kit came with Castle Forbes shaving cream which comes in a plastic container but I love the look of those wooden bowls... I keep seeing them in other posts and pictures. What is the wooden bowl for precisely?

Thanks in advance all!

Cheers from Toronto

i wasn't aware that there are bowls just for storing your soaps..? i'd say they are used for both storing and lathering. what ever bowl my soap is in is what i lather out of. i'd say buy a wooden bowl if you wish and transfer the soap in to it and lather away!
