Picked up some vintage gillettes

So I called some local pawn shops and antique shops in the area and found 3 vintage gillettes. Still being a newbie I'm a bit unsure of what I've found but I think I got a '56 blue tip superspeed, a '56 red tip superspeed and a late 30's tech. I tried cleaning them up using a vinegar soak and toothbrush scrub, then a simple green solution soak and toothbrush scrub and lastly a toothpaste scrub. Lastly I soaked them in rubbing alcohol to disinfect them and let them air dry.

Here they are:

I'm a big fan of the Red Tip Super Speed and pre-war Tech. I have not had the chance to use a Blue Tip yet, but considering I find the regular flair-tip Super Speed too mild I haven't been looking very hard. Nice grabs and hopefully you got a good deal as well.

Here's the red tip: (I had trouble getting them to upload for some reason)$Sm red tip side.jpg$Sm red tip gunk.jpg$Sm red tip rear.jpg

The others are in seemingly good shape. The blue tip looked like that before cleaning, I don't think it was used much, if at all. My concern is with the red tip. I can't seem to get the gunk off the guard area and the pink spots on the handle won't come off. Should I be concerned about using this one?
Also, anyone know if I'm right about the Tech being a Tech? There's no serial number.
Anyone have any experience with using any of these? I'm wondering about their aggressiveness.
Thanks again, you've been most helpful.

Plating loss on the underside of the baseplate seems common on the red tips. I wouldn't worry about it, use it and enjoy. The tech is pre-war, nice shape!

Congrats on your find.

I got a blue tip, very mild. I want to get the flair tip and the red tip to complete the trio. Mild, Medium, Aggressive. Well how aggressive can the red tip be? More aggressive than a Merkur HD?
It would be fun to use the three razor method with these razors.

Very nice acquisitions. I have had both a Fat Handle Tech and a Red Tip Super Speed. I love the red tip and it has become one of my favorite razors. I sold the Tech because for me it just didn't shave as well as my other razors, although it is a favorite of many here on B&B. As they say YMMV, shave with all of them and let us know how they work for you.
