And this is why I don't import from other countries anymore. I suffer from high blood pressure, and the stress and anger this sort of situation would cause, would land me in bed with a migraine + level 10. I try to make personal decisions now to help lower my stress level, reduce the number of headaches I suffer from, and try to keep calm.

The less stress I deal with, the calmer I am, the more at peace I am, less headaches I suffer from, and the better my meds work. Speaking of which, this is the perfect moment to report that I am upgrading from a basic model Omron BP monitor, to a premium top of the line model. Check it out!

I'm late to this thread so forgive me if I say something that's already been discussed, but do you have any exercise activity that you do to help with stress like walking, biking, elliptical, etc? It sounds like you do yard work which is kind of like exercise and that's good. I used to run and bike a lot which helped me blow off steam and relax me, but due to recent health issues, walking is about all I can do now.

Make a 'pleasure list' of things that you enjoy doing and makes you happy, then try to do them on a regular basis. Spend as much time with loved ones as you can, life is short.

When I'm upset about something, I try to keep things in perspective by asking myself '50 years from now is it really going to matter about... (fill in the blank)'. Most of the time the answer is that it's something that doesn't really matter in the whole scheme of life and therefore not worth losing sleep over.

I try to avoid things that cause stress. For me it's the news.

My wife is a good listener/counselor and I do lot of complaining about things to her which helps me get things off my chest and then move on.

I'm on Amlodipine to manage high BP caused by chronic pain.

When mowing lawns, I generally get between 3000 to 8000 walking steps in a day. On the days I'm not mowing, because I'm fixing small engines, or its the weekend, I intentionally go for a walk, at least 6000 steps minimum. Also, during the winter months when my work is shutdown till the next season, I try to go for several walks per week.

And its funny that you brought up exercise, because I bought a smartwatch, which monitors my health, and my exercise activities, helps me to track what I am doing. I mainly walk or ride a bike. When I am doing lawncare/yardwork, I do a lot of bending down as well, so my body is always in motion when I am working. My new watch lets me know when I've done a good job lol.

Yep, I do have hobbies, and things I like to do. And thats also what my weekends are always about, taking it easy, decompress, enjoy what I have, and not have to worry about doing any work, or dealing with ungrateful customers. lol And also, I learned that when I was 18, when both my mom and dad past away the same year, leaving me with just my brother and I. Life hasn't been easy, so yes, life is short. But its important to make the best of life where we can, until that bell rings, letting us know, its time to go.

I try to keep things in perspective by asking myself '50 years from now is it really going to matter about

The answer is nope, because by the time its 50-year later for some, you won't be the same person you are right now. For example, I've lived a few decades for sure, and one thing I can tell you, I am not the same person I was, when I was a kid. Life has a tendency to change you, as you mature, and learn what really matters. But sometimes, we still crave what we had in childhood, like a mother's love. Somehow, as the years go on, one just has to learn how to move on without it. Not easy, let me tell you!

I try to avoid things that cause stress. For me it's the news.

Oh I totally agree, the news is an absolute train-wreck! It has this sadistic nature, of fueling on people's drive for FEAR, to drive ratings. Half of it is just a bunch of BS anyways, and the other half of the news is real. And one thing I don't do, is I don't consume politics all day long like some people do, I try to stay away from it most of the time. Personally, I just find it a bunch of men and woman acting like children.

My wife is a good listener/counselor and I do lot of complaining about things to her which helps me get things off my chest and then move on.

You are lucky to have a woman in your life, who loves you very much, and listens to you, counsels you. Not everybody has that, I speak from experience. We live in an age these days, where people are more concerned with what you can do for them, but not what they can do for you. From what I just heard, she's a keeper, so don't let her go. Trust me when I say this, the single life is harder, especially in these times.

But we do the best we can with what we have, and keep trucking on, until all 18-wheels are flat, and we can't truck on no further. lol

I'm thinking of a red elephant riding on a train, neither of them are leaving my head!

Run Converse GIF

But! What if the train was actually an elephant, going flank speed, wearing a bunch of pink boots? Would that qualify? Because at the end of the day, when this creature comes smashing through, its going to be like a freight train too, and nobody is going to be happy. 🚂

True, I am blessed with a wonderful woman. Even many married men don't have that, unfortunately. I thought I would be a bachelor for life but finally got married at the ripe old age of 36, so I understand a bit about the single life too.

We've been happily married for 10 years now; the wedding was 34 years ago. :) Which is to say, marriage didn't solve all my problems and has its own set of inherent challenges and problems as I'm sure others here can attest. Early on, there were days when I wasn't sure I was going to make it. I won't lie, there are times when I still miss some of the freedoms of the single life, but all-in-all it's been good.

My father-in-law told me "Don't criticize your wife, if she were perfect, she would have married better."

I shaved a fortune
My last shave was Wednesday, July 24th.... So today is the 8th day since I put a blade to my face.... I'm not proud of that... but it could have been a challenge for the razor/blade.... It turns out, the Blutt BR-1 1.20 with a Ti Crown handle is a good as I've thought all along.... I did have to take it slow on my chin, but I have to do that most of the time.

This is the first time I've used it since I polished it... Was there a noticeable difference? Smoother? Easier glide? Truth be told, the only difference I noticed was how shiny it is now. <eg>

All the other players were the same... The Cube, Baume.be shaving cream, CaYuen Copper Ore bowl, Rudy installed ShaveMac 28mm Two-band Silver tip for pre-shave, SV 2.0 Faux Turtle Shell shaving brush, Perma-Sharp one use blade... Same post shave as always.

I did find myself touching my face as I returned to work after the shower/shave. Smooth.. no razor burn... no left over whiskers... Not bad for that many days growth.

I've polished several machined razors to nearly mirror finishes. I have not noticed a bit of difference in the glide or friction. I think any perceived changes are confirmation bias. However, the shiny is nice. If you want bling, go for it! Just don't think the shave will change.

Supposedly the matte finish trend was actually intended to glide better because a perfectly smooth surface is prone to stiction, but I agree with the above.

Crazy that this matte vs. polished topic came up!
Just today I was looking at the Timeless razors in the matte finish and was wondering how they feel as compared to the polished ones.
Good place (Kim's journal) for this topic to come up since a few of you have Timeless razors.

The polished glides for me but I'm curious if the matte is the same, better or worse.
Specifically with Timeless!
Reason being is that I've had the opposite with Stando Razors. The ones they have that are matte don't seem to glide very well. They kind of feel like they drag.
.
The Hone 15 was like that too. It's got the same type of matte finish that Stando has.
I don't have this issue with polished or machined razors.
Anyone have both Timeless finishes or tried both?
And what do you think?

The polished Timeless glides much better than the matte Henson. Did a bunch of side-by-side shaves with them.

The Timeless matte Ti finish has a grit to it. A few hand polishes brings out a subtle luster which is quite nice and the grit is gone. You end up with a darker color finish than their polished gear, at least in titanium. I’ve never seen their matte SS products.

The Henson is a "closed angle specific" head though!
The Yates Winning razor v1 is of the same design and I had the same issue with it. And that one was machined finish!
And I also had the same issue with the Henson titanium. So I don't think it's necessarily the finish that causes the drag with those razors. Regardless, I still really like my Henson +++ and have accepted (and adapted) to the way it is.
Now with the Stando & Hone, not too much!
Those two have standard DE heads that have plenty of wiggle room where they shouldn't drag.
