Phoenix & Beau soaps?

Has anyone tried the Phoenix & Beau line of soaps? How do they compare to Barrister's ones, as I'm considering getting one of the two. Performance is the main factor for me above scent.

I have two P&B soap (had 3, gave away one due to ammonia). But I think the ammonia issue have already been resolved.

Performance wise, I do love the performance, just slightly short of making my top 5, but easily up there with the big names.

Which ones are in your top five?

Phoenix and Beau make great soaps and are quite deserving of your money. But you’ve asked a tough question. I’d be inclined to say only B&M’s Reserve line tops P&B’s. Cheers.

Is the Barrister reserve range better than its other ones? I was looking at the Cheshire soap as well as some of the reserve ones.

I have the Bay Spice. It's one of the best lathering soaps I have. The scents are very distinctive. It's up there with Wholly Kaw

Bizarrely, I've yet to get to B&M soaps, but P&B are at the top of my Euro-focused soap collection. One of those thick, slick soaps that's impossible not to get a great lather from. (Although I find Spitfire to be a great scent but a little too strong for me, especially early in the morning; I need a coffee inside me before I can take that one on.)

I have to echo the opinion that P&B soap is well worth the money. I enjoy the performance over B&M Reserve, but not by much.

Awesome, I think I'll have a look at the Imperial Rum version then, as that's one of the few available in my local store.

I'll put in a good word for Albion - one of my favorite scents. Check that out too if it's available to you. The soap is excellent and gives as good a shave as the Reserve IMO. The only difference I perceive is in post-shave feel; I think B&M outpaces P&B in this area by a little. P&B is no slouch though in this area.

P&B has a excellent soap base. Have owned 8 tubs of P&B from one time or another. Scents may not be for everyone, but I have found many of them have grown on me over time. Spitfire was one I didn't care for at first, got one from the first batch at Maggards. Ended up trading it, later on I picked up another tub of Spitfire and it smelled much more blended.

Star Noir is another scent I wasn't sure about at first, but over time it got to be one of my favorite scents from P&B along with Sanskrit.

I haven't seen the Albion in my local store, but I saw a limited edition 'Oberon' one which sounded intriguing based on the scent. But probably not worth the extra money really. Torn right now between the P&B and the Barrister Reserve, but I think I might go with the Phoenix ultimately.

p&b’s Star Noir, after face lathering and applying the first layer of lather. You can see it it’s thick and slick.

I have quite a few P&B soaps.

Albion is a great scent. I also like Citra Royale, Coda and Whitechapel scents. Performance on all are incredible.

In addition to the above, I have Pall Mall, Baskerville, Trafalgar and Denali. Kerry is working with WCS on them becoming a stockist and they will have an exclusive LE scent called The Specialist.

I have the P&B Albion and Trafalgar soaps as well as the B&M Reserve Cool, Spice and Classic soaps.

As much as I like the B&M soaps I prefer the P&B soaps for scent and performance.
