What's new

Phaedon has disappointed me until today.

Coton Egyptien has been really flat and boring to me.

It has a very light lily of the valley scent with other complimenting floral notes.
But I haven't got anything else out of it.

Until today. It's miserably hot and humid.
So I shave and apply some Phaedon Coton Egyptien just because my sample is staring me in the face.

Maybe it's the hot weather, but it just came alive!
Smooth soft floral notes seem more vibrant.
I'm really enjoying it.

So there you go, more evidence that the seasons play into this fragrance game.

It makes sense, Marc, that if scents that are already heavy can become cloying, light scents in heat and humidity can become richer and more interesting to those who prefer that style. Nice post!

Randy you live where it's hot.... try it if you can.
Phaedon has interested me for a while due to it's connection with Parfumerie Generale (one of my favourite houses)
I have more winter months and cooler months than hot months here.
I really don't consider warm weather fragrances as much.

I have another sample from Phaedon. I just have to find it. It's here somewhere.

Shouldn't be too hard to find it here in Houston. Sounds interesting, so of course I'll try it if I can. Even though it's very hot and humid here most of the time, I don't generally look for lighter scents, and in fact I'm more drawn to just the opposite. Those that are richer, more resinous, or as my wife says "pungent", which from her always means she doesn't like it. I think it's because my sense of smell isn't as strong as most, so I lean toward those I can pick up more readily.

+1 with this statement., I Have found similar results with Floris Elite, and Eau Sauvage EDT. Phaedon Coton Egytien sounds interesting might want to sample this.

Sure, I'm just starting to get a grip on some of my fragrances and now they change with the seasons

This certainly seems to be true though. I didn't like Bay Rum in the winter when I tried it once (although I've read some people do, perhaps many) but now in the summer it's coming alive for me. Makes me feel cool and refreshed almost all day.

Good thread.

Sounds like an interesting fragrance and, since I live in Florida, I'd be interested to see if it continues to impress you as the weather warms.
