Personna Red Pack Distribution

Today, while opening a new Personna Red Pack (these from the new box style) I noticed that the wax paper wrapper said "Distributed by American Safety Razor Co, Verona, VA 24482".

I thought someone had mentioned before that these WERE NOT ASR blades. Any ideas if they are made by ASR or if they are just distributed in the US by ASR? What would be the difference between these and the Walgreens/CVS/etc. blades you can get in the dispensers? I haven't used those but are they similar, different? I know many store name blades are made by ASR, like the Auto Plus (Atra Plus knock-offs) I use on my Headblade.

Here's a photo of the wrapper. I got these from Dark Angel on eBay.

You know what....I even remember reading that thread now. I guess I totally forgot.

Perhaps they are indeed distributed by ASR but they refuse to admit as such for some dumb reason, maybe that they are wanting to sell their blades as marketed by drugstores etc and not cause confusion. I find it a little odd that they have the ASR address on them but the company claims they've never heard of them.

Thanks Pablo.

Just to add to the Red Pack confusion, what is your opinion of the blade pictured below? I bought these about a year ago. Take note that the blade says made in USA. I guess ASR isn't aware of these? The wrapper has the same labeling that Jethro's pic illustrates.

Guys,

I say you guys post to the previous Israeli Guide.

These questions I believe have being answered already. Just on a quick note, both the new and the old blades are MADE IN ISRAEL blades. The Verona Office doesn't know about this blades, but other facilities know them. Verona is just one of the main offices, so it is why they place that information there, like the headquaters.

Hope this helps,

Dark

The Red Packs could be gray market blades that are not intended for sale in the US. But someone's bringing them here by some round-about method.

Mr. Whiskers,

The Made in USA ones I do not know about them. I think they are made in Verona, but are not the same blades as the red pack. It looks like the Walmart Personna ones.

These red packs are not in the gray market. If you follow the history from the Israeli Blade Wiki
your answers are there.

I think that the only gray market blades would be the Personna Chinese, these are made in China and if someone is selling those, they are not inteded for US market.

Have a great shave!

MAN OH MAN do I ever love the red packs!!! First class shave for me :thumbup1:

Totally agree. I'm working my way through a sample pack currently (6 weeks of DE shaving and proud!) and I tried a Persona Red for the first time today and it was a cracking shave. The best so far.

Bizarrely I had shaved for the previous 3 days with a Dorco blade with awful results, seriously I had a rash on my neck this morning worse than any thing I ever got even with a cartridge and supermarket goo and by noon yesterday it felt like I had about 24 hours of growth on my chin, not close at all.

After this mornings shave with a Personna red (so no recovery days) it's cleared right up and not a drop of blood either.

I've yet to try Feathers but so far the Personna is looking very favorable as my blade of choice.

Has anyone used these blades? I'm considering acquiring a batch. There are so many different types of Personna blades offered and these I haven't heard much about. The second picture I copied from the one review of that blade posted here on B&B.

I think a few have used them and reported that they are quite decent.

I think Barber Depot sells these for $45/250 blades. I'm not 100% sure, but they do look similar.

Compared to the Red Packs, they're quite expensive though.

I know about this blade as well. This are actually only for Medical Purposes. I tried getting some but they are not sold to us. :(.

I would recommend some that are non branded also come in a pack of 250. They are called Barber Personnas, same quality. Even better than Red Pack, but they are pricy.

Good on sampler packs ;).

Hope this helps a bit ;).
