Penhaligon's Raquets Discontinued

Well, I read that Penhaligon's Raquets was discontinued. I happen to LOVE this frag. It reminds me of Pinaud Clubman, but has staying power and is a bit more refined. Is it crazy that I just bought two bottles? Considering the bottle i have now is about 1/4-1/2 full after six years, I think I am set for life. HOPEFULLY!!

I don't know about you, but I hope to outlive two bottles of cologne.

If you frequent this forum you too will soon have so many different bottles of cologne that even one bottle of something will easily outlive yourself. Just wait and see, heck I personally easily have over 125 bottles and haven't stopped yet.

YMMV

Unfortunately for me I had CAD even before joining the forum. Now it's niche fragrance CAD.

A couple of thoughts.

It is popular enough so that you will likely always be able to sell it quickly, if you ever wanted to. Keep the packaging!

Pen's from time to time discontinues scents and brings them back. Sometimes with a new name if I am remembering the Lords/Douro situation correctly. As I recall LP No. 9 came and went and came back in not all that long a time period. (I do not think Pen's makes a game of this the way, say, Creed does, but still . . . .)

Even if Pen's brings a scent back, it is probably advantageous to have the "vintage" version.

Racquets is not a favorite scent of mine--to explain: I love the way it smells, but to me lots of stuff smells that barbershop way, although most not quite as nicely, and I may have grown a little tired that particular smell--but, and this is just my opinion, I do not think there is much risk of long term financial loss in buying a bottle or even more.

Not that I am going to do that, unless maybe there is a 50% off sale. <g> And not that I have done that in the past, unfortunately. Would have been nice to stock up on the original versions of Aramis "Havana," Floris "Sandalwood" and "Vetiver," Donna Karan "Chaos" for my wife, not to mention a whole bunch of Creeds, some MPGs in the 90 ml bottles, etc.

Just saying!

Sometimes I think that you just have to learn to let go. Life is to be lived, not hoarded. We need to be more in the moment. In fact, just this morning as I was restacking my stock of NIB Dunhill 1934 so that I could get to my flacon of Tabarome, I saw a little bird land on my windowsill. You can't put a pricetag on that.

I wish I could like Sartorial. When I tried it out, its weird, but I actually became nervous when wearing it. It was an odd feeling when I would wear the scent.

Yeah it's definitely time to move on and let go. I expect to see your flacon of VT show up on my doorstep any day now. :biggrin1:

Given my normal taste in frags, I shouldn't like Sartorial. Not at all. But I do.

Really!! Can you elaborate?

I think you have wonderful taste in frags. Not that I am stalking you, but I have known you for quite awhile now. Moreover, among many other things, Imaginary Authors has essentially credited you with its genesis, for which mad props are well-deserved in my book. Why shouldn't you like Sartorial? I do!

Not sure I love Sartorial exactly. But I like and admire it and I wear it, which is not true of everything I like and admire by any means.

Stocking up seems perfectly reasonable to me. While I agree with the "moving on" idea, I still stock up sometimes.
