Penhaligons Petition

Pardon the repetition if this has been brought up before. It seems to me there are a number of forum members who are quite disappointed with the reformulated Penhaligons soaps. I for one would like to have access to a tallow first BB or EF. Why did they change the soap recipe? Has anyone heard a reasonable explanation? Is this not the same mistake Coca Cola made back in the 80s?

Has anyone thrown out the idea of petition? A nice letter to the Penhaligons execs to let them know the large customer base they are alienating?

Sounds like a good idea,or even better we could send them 5,000-10,000 letters.Someone could write up a letter and post it here so everyone could just print it out and sign.

I have the reformulated puck and recently was able to acquire a tallow first version of EF from a kind member here and it is night and day. Obviously the performance is different, but the scent is also different. For me the tallow version is much cleaner, natural, and smooth. The reformulated is sharp and synthetic in comparison. I'm very grateful to have gotten the opportunity to have the tallow first. It won't last forever though.

I did write Pen's a letter a while ago about my disappointment and I never got a response. It is very unfortunate that the tallow versions are no longer available or even more so that they were unable to make an acceptable reformulation offering.

I'm sorry to be a kill joy but in all likelihood a letter will not make a difference. It will go in someone's trash can or some file folder. Perhaps if you can find the name of the CEO and his proper address, you might get more attention. I would not hold my breath though.

I do wonder if the people calling the shots at some of these companies like Penhaligons know about these forums and the large number of participants. Perhaps someone a little closer to home could put the word out?

I have sent Penhaligon's countless e-mails. I have told them our opinions, asked if they could do a special run for us, and even gone so far as to ask if I could purchase their recipe. The answer has always been the same: Penhaligon's company policy is against using ingredients derived from animals in their products.

Most likely they are aware, but to them the trouble of the EU's regulations is probably not worth it.

I don't believe Penhaligon's has to revert back to putting tallow in their soaps. There are plenty of none tallow based soaps with great performance that is on par with their tallow peers. They just need to go back to the drawing board and re-re-formulate their shave soaps. There's about a 0% chance they're going to change company policy. Efforts are better put directing penhaligon's to make a better soap without tallow than the current offering. Penhaligon's tallow shave soaps are off the table IMHO.
