Penhaligon's Opus 1870 Aftershave?

I absolutely love the scent of Opus 1870. I have primarily switched to shaving soaps, but none my soaps come close to matching the incredible scent of the Opus 1870 shaving cream. If Pen's made the Opus 1870 in a shaving soap, I think my SSAD would be cured.

What are your thoughts on the Pen's Opus 1870 AS balm? I haven't seen any reviews on this particular aftershave. It's $55 a tube, so I'm reluctant to make the plunge without knowing something about it first. For example, I really like C&S 88, but have read that the C&S aftershaves are almost useless as an AS. Great scent alone does not necessarily equate to a great aftershave.

I would value the opinion of anyone who has used Penhaligon's aftershaves. I already know I like the scent, so I'm more interested in the efficacy of the aftershave.

I use the balm as well as the cream. I also splurged on the cologne. The balm is as good or better than any other I have tried and the scent lingers even longer than just the cream. You only need to use a little bit of the balm so a tube will last a long time. I love OPUS 1870, it elevates the whole experience.

Thanks, Larry. Your opinion puts me a lot closer to pulling the trigger on getting a tube.

I love the cologne and agree with you...if they made a soap, I'd be all over it. Just dont ask Kingfisher about the stuff...he thinks it smells like a whino's butt! LOL

I've only got the cologne, but have thought alot about springing for the cream and AS balm...already have too many of those tho..and its tough to drop $50 bucks for a shave cream tube...

I don't think I want to know the story behind (no pun intended) that comparison.

I had the cologne and got the cream on sale this summer (for about $22 the tube!). I am interested in the balm too for the full experience and was balking at the price. Honestly, I was hoping to come across some in the BST, but it's sounding like demand is outstripping the supply and I am not liking my chances.

I may be biting the bullet since you all are pushing me over the edge.

No real story...just got into a discussion with him one day about the scent of Opus. YMMV and all. He hates the stuff.

Now, if you're asking me how he knows what a whino's butt smells like...I have no idea!:w00t:
