OK, so I have very little to no money, but a SLIGHT bit of room on my Mastercard (my Visa is already maxed--darn you wet shaving!). I've been reading a lot about English Fern and I really want to scoop one up before the new formula comes out. BUT it is so expensive and I've never even tried it. Could someone perhaps give me an idea of what it smells like? And...is it worth it???

If you can stand to wait a little, you can request samples of Penhaligon's scents straight from the company, including English Fern. The soap is mellower than the EdT, but the scent is essentially the same.
Oh--and if you don't like the scent of the soap, you can BST it for only slightly less than you paid.
