Pella Injector blades: not so sharp?

Hi,

I tried my first Pella Injector blade from the group buy last week, and I was surprised at how dull it seemed. I've used it twice, now, and same feeling.

I had a couple of Chinese Schicks go through the same razor prior to inserting the Pella, and for the life of me, it felt like the Pella blade had at least 6 shaves on it, that's how dull it felt.

Did I get a dud Pella on my first go with them?

Did you try a second blade to compare?

Not yet. I'm going to go two more shaves with it just to get a sure feel. Then I'll try a new one.

I'm almost convinced it's a dud blade. I actually ran over a patch on my upper lip ATG about 7 times, heard it scraping the hair loudly on each stroke, but it didn't cut the hair. I finally went for a 45 degree angle (half ATG, half XTG) and finally got it smooth after four or five strokes.

I can't imagine this can be normal. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have no problems with them. Did you ruin the edge loading it?

This is the definition of masochism! I'll toss a blade because it it looks at me funny, I can't imagine going TWO more shaves on a blade I had lost confidence in.

+1 these blade are way too cheap to suffer through one bad shave, let alone FOUR.

Toss that blade man and try a new one

Well, I did it. Two more shaves with that blade.

Surprisingly, the shaves were better. Not great, but much better than the first two shaves.

It makes me think I was doing something wrong in my prep, but I can't think of what it could be; everything was more or less the same.

Ever the glutton for punishment, I will continue until the dullness returns. I look at it as research... somehow.... somewhere....
