Pelikan Edelstein Inks: Opinions Needed

Greetings from Mendel!

As I am researching fountain pen inks, are Pelikan Edelstein inks anything special? The glass bottle is attractive but is the ink itself really any better than Private Reserve for example?

I haven't tried any, so I have no opinion of my own. But I have heard others say that the colors are nothing special and they are not very saturated. I love Pelikan, so I really wanted to like them, but none of the colors I saw were 'must-haves' and they are too expensive for me to get just because I love the brand.

I have only tried the Edelstein Aventurine green ink. It flows nicely with no tendency to clog. Color appreciation is very subjective, but I like this green.

I really like these inks now. I have 4 of them; topaz, aventurine, tanzanite and onyx. I am picky about what inks I use in my Pelikans (only 2 now) and these work great. I did reviews on them, I will repost them in a little bit.

Here are the reviews I did. The Tanzanite is not as dark as it seems in the review. Obviously, what pen and nib size or paper may make the colors change a bit.

I have some samples and I think they are great.
Expensive so you wouldn't want to buy a gallon but I'd like to have a bottle in a nice colour like the topaz.

IMHO "quality" inks can vary so much in aspects of performance that you really need to try some samples of different inks to see what you like. It's so personal.

I have two, the Adventurine and Tanzerite and they are ok. Nothing really special, but I choose inks based on color more than any other criteria.

I'm hoping to try a sample of a few of these inks soon. I really liked the De Artementis Sherlock Holmes and Black Blue-Black, I recently sampled. They flowed very will in my two pens and look great, but they run $15 for a very small bottle 35ml. For the price if the Pelikan inks compared I'll gladly give them a try.
