Patchouli

Got myself some dark patchouli oil this week, thanks to the knowledge on this forum.

I'm happy, love the smell... my other half just had a whiff today. Hates it. Typical!

what knowledge exactly lead you to the procurement? I like the smell of this stuff. Wife hates it too. Too hippie for her.

yeah, I'd be curious to know what thread/info/etc. lead you to the purchase . . . maybe I'll secretly indulge in this stuff . . .
won't be a secret for long, with a scent like that.

Maybe I should try this. Most things I have sniffed that are supposed to smell patchouli smell umscented to me......

I bought a few samples from sue of mama bears soaps and didn't care for straight patchouli. I like it mixed with other things though. YMMV I guess!

i myself like patchouli, but straight it not the scent most people like , its usually a blend additive that bring s the patchouli out----straight its very musky. my wife hates it too straight anyways--------- try blending with clove, lavender and bay oil---- a little drop in the palmm when mixing will find the right blend

Many years ago, I worked with a woman who was an aging, ex-hippie..... (she was a nut!). No way I could ever use anything with that scent... brings up too many bad memories!

Where'd you get the oil? I'd like to try some of this. Love Patch. Saint Charles Shave has an amazing Patchouli cologne.

An online shop through Amazon here in the UK, but if you search for Dark Patchouli Oil, plenty results pop up on US 'sites.

I hope this doesn't come off too negative, but I lived in S.F. for well over a decade, I associate patchouli with the worst sort of person. Your wife is correct.

Well she isn't my wife... so although she is entitled to her opinion, she hasn't yet qualified for "always correct" status. :001_tongu

It appears to be a very Marmite smell... you either love it or hate it.

I can't stand it.

I hear there are hundreds of variations and that some are less offensive than others. I associate it with someone 'covering up' body odor.

If you like it, then go with it though.

also peoples body chemistry makes the smell differrent, by alot, but its usually ones secret recipe

+1. Reminds me of the unwashed Deadheads I went to school with.

Decades of patchouli wafting about here in Santa Cruz... I've always hated the smell.

Of course I can't stand the Dead, either!

YMMV is right! :001_rolle
