PASS # 364.......ATGWTGACRXYZ the grain

I normally find 1 pass ATG and touch up gives me a BBS. I do have a collection of razors and different blades which provide the same results.

I see so many approaches on different videos, BBs and I'm curious. How many "passes" do you normally do and do you do more than one because you "should" or because you "need" them.

I understand it differs per person due to all of the factors we know, but was curiuos to hear from you!

What kind of growth do you have? Mine's pretty thick and coarse so I can't imagine done a single ATG. My face would blow up.
I'm lucky to not have a very heavy facial\beard growth. I assume your shave is because you need to do passes verses because you just learned you "should". Thanks for replying!

I've been a 2 pass shaver forever. The first pass is somewhere between WTG & XTG and the second pass is somewhere between XTG & ATG.

A 3 pass shave is overkill for me and a single ATG pass would be a ROUGH shave...

1 WTG pass.
1 ATG extensive buffing and touch-ups pass.

Pass 2 usually includes feeling around and occasional spot application of lather, so I call it a 2.5 pass shave.

Typically on week days, before work, I do 2 passes 1 WTG and 1 XTG.
On week ends, if I go out to a restaurant or to a nice place, I'll do the 3 passes WTG + XTG + ATG.

I do the passes because I need them, I have extremely coarse and dense dark hair and on top of that, I have growth patterns that are a mess to catch with only 1 or 2 passes.

I could do the 3 passes on week days but I often settle for DFS out of laziness. Another problem I have is my hair grows fast so when I don't go ATG, by 5 o'clock I don't have a shadow, I have the beginning of a light beard and it shows because I'm fair skinned and dark haired.

I am a daily shaver; typically 3-passes (WTG, XTG, then ATG). If pushed for time I just do one WTG.

I shave every other evening. 2 pass (WTG, ATG). The ATG pass in on my neck and cheeks, other areas are WTG.

When I shaved daily, it was 1 pass WTG.

I typically shave WTG/XTG/ATG every morning, now. I could get away with just two passes, but I get a better shave with three passes.

This. ATG on the first pass for me would not be possible. With a really aggressive razor I can get SAS in one pass, but I prefer to do two passes and get to CCS/DFS. I never do any actual ATG, so I never have a true BBS.

I only shave below the beard line, and I usually shave twice a week—occasionally just once. I do a single pass, which is simply "down" rather than *TG. Then I do touch-up, but it's a LOT of touch-up, and it's in all sorts of directions depending on the particular spot. I do not re-lather at all for the touch-up.

WTG, XTG and ATG. I don't have a very tough beard, but I do have whiskers that grow in all directions, especially on my neck. I get a good result with a mild, smooth DE razor with three passes.
