Parker vac and pencil find

Hi guys, I'm doing a bit of antique shop perusing today and happened upon a boxed parker vac with pencil, which seemed in nice condition. No marks, and the body of the pen was clear.

Only thing was that it was $110, which seems a little rich for my pickings. While I would love a parker vac, maybe not at this price.

There was a lady hovering over my while I was handling it so sorry for the lack of decent photies.

Nice set, and a reasonable price. Did you get a chance to look at the nib for any issues? I have found nice sets like that and then unscrewed the cap to find a badly damaged nib or missing tipping.

Figure it will need a new diaphragm so factor that in as well. Looks nice ... it's a Junior, not in size (that would be a demi) but a model which was at a price point and guarantee step lower than the Vacumatic Major within Parker's line. Great pens, sometimes the Juniors had better performing nibs than the others.

I see some other pens over to the right ...

Thanks for the info guys. Were I not set on a new nib + grind for my M200 I might actually sprint out and get it.

There were some other pens. Behind is a cased parker 61 an on the right were a bunch of others: an Estie or two, an eversharp, and a couple of snorkels or touchdowns. I totally failed to get photos. Sorry - forum fail!!

$110 seems high to me. always factor in $35-40 for restoration costs on a vacumatic if you can't do it yourself. You should be able to find something cheaper, and if you don't use pencils, then you're paying extra for something you don't really need. And in most cases, boxes in the pen world are not like boxes for your GI Joe doll. I've got boxes of boxes and they aren't worth much, I'm afraid. You should be able to find a Major (slightly larger) in the wild for less than that.
