PARKER 51 update. . . lost and found

Hi Gents: Hope all well with you and your families. Remember that Parker 51 that I missed last month? Guess what? It was not sold but it was lost. It was located in the same glass case but it was "hiding" underneath the pen case. I saw it "peeking" at me. I asked the associate behind the counter to retrieve it . And BINGO!!!! there it was anxious and calling my name.

It is in great shape for it to be vintage. I got it for $37 out the door. I am super excited for this is my 1st vintage FP and even better because I found it in the wild. I flushed it out and loaded it with my Pilot Iroshizuku Asa-Gao (Morning Glory). I love my blues.

Enclosed is a couple of pics. Kindly comment on my score. I have never seen this type of convertor since this is my 1st vintage FP. The nib appears to be EF.

Glad it worked out for you. That is definitely a good price for a 51, certainly better than I got for my aerometric one. These are excellent practical pens, and it's amazing how they hold up over the years. I like the Asa-Gao ink too, a very nice shade.

Congrats on the score! I don't have a 51 but it is on my list. My first pen from the wild was a 21 with the aerometric fill and I really liked it. Simple like me.

Great pick up Mel, Those "Converters" are unique to the 51, although there are others out there that do have a similar function, the one in your pen is meant to stay in place and not come out. they are fantastic pens, and you will love it for sure

Looks good, Mel! Every pen aficianado needs a Parker 51 eventually. The question now is will this be your last? :biggrin1:

Mel - nice pick up at great price and I know you will like it. When I got interested in using a FP, my brother-in-law, who restores pens, sold me one of his that is a pleasure to use. I have not had any problems with the converter and the nib is EF and while I'm partial to medium / broad, it is a pleasure to use.

I'm using mine right now writing a condolence letter to a friend of mine who recently lost his wife and on some special Italian Amalfi paper and the Parker 51 shines writing on it.
