What's new

Just wanted to say thanks. . .

Hi Gents: I hope all is well with you & your families. I have been a member of B&B since only April 2012 and have really enjoyed my wet shaving journey. I have always been a big fan of Cross ball-point pens until sometime last year when I bought my 1st FP (Platinum Plaisir) medium nib.

Just recently... the past few months I have been exclusively using my FPs. I still have my Cross ball points but I have been enjoying my FPs more. One thing I told myself was that I will never ever buy an expensive FP and only spend less than $55 on a FP. I guess when you really love something that kinda goes out the door. This July 2013... I did something I said I would not do and spend more than $55 on a FP. Yes... I could not help myself. I saw this beautiful new Pelikan M200 (blue marble) medium nib from a German vendor on The Bay. That particular M200 kept calling my name..."Mel... I need a new home". How can one say "no" to a beautiful FP like that one. Believe it or not. . . I scored a decent deal and I guess you can say that the rest is history.

Sorry that this post is long but I just wanted to say "thanks so much" for all the responses on all my Nib Threads and also thanks to all the PMs. I am not going to say any names because if I do I may leave out a name but you know who you are and I just wanted say ...."THANKS!!!". I am learning a lot the hard way. As much as I like the color of Baystate Blue. . . I will NEVER EVER put it in my M200 or LAMY AL-Star. On a side note... I do love the ink samples of blue from Goulet Pens. Brian from Goulet Pens is awesome. I love his videos and reviews. I am loving the samples of the Pilot Iroshizuku Asa-Gao (Morning Glory), Diamine Sapphire Blue, and J. Herin Eclat de Saphir. I just love my blues and love my FP journey too.:thumbup1:

I have the M200 in Blue Swirl with the OM nib and load it with Pelikan Turquoise. I think you will really like your new pen. Welcome to the flock.

The NIB is one of my favorite subforums here and I'm a stew of a different one, so that is saying something! All the NIB-ites are great guys. I'm glad we can all help you, Mel! Just like shaving, writing shouldn't be a chore, it should be enjoyed!

Cool of you to say thanks. You're welcome, Mel!

No need to though, that's just how we roll around here.

Feel free to ask any other questions you may have. No doubt, someone here will always be able to help you out!

Enjoy your pens!

The problem is not when you spend $55, $105, or $405 on a pen. It's when you've done that, gotten one great pen and a couple of decent backups, and still want more. Sounds like you have all you need, so resist any further enabling.

Although of course you now need some decent vintage pens, Esterbrooks, maybe a Parker Vacumatic, a vintage Conklin Crescent (not the modern reproduction)...:thumbup1:

Glad your having such a good time Mel... always good to see when people get involved and love everything involved

Yeah, he thanks us now.

Once he's bought a 600, 800, and a Toledo 1000 he might sing a different tune.

I'd have to echo mel's sentiments on this one, this is where I have learned everything I know about FPs. Love the Nib-ers around here. I also just in general find a lot of the b&b sub forums to a great place to hang out and learn about other cool hobbies.

I spend all most all my time here in "Everything Else" now, occasionally popping into Shaving Soap.

This is a pretty excellent place with some pretty incredible gentlemen. Glad to be here and part of such a great number! Had to use a ball point at the post office today... and it was weird....
