Parker 11R (horn handle)

Has anyone had experience with the Parker 11R who wouldn't mind telling me their experience?

I've been thinking about getting one but my experience with Parkers has been erratic....some are favorites, but some I had to re-sell.

I have the buffalo horn handle (not the cow horn). I like it. It's got a wonderful shape (think EJ Chatsworth-style) and IMO the length is just right. Any head you put on it is going to where all the weight is concentrated, so keep that in mind. I have a Muhle/EJ 2009 head on mine.

Every time I see one of those cow horn ones (the 11R) I kick myself for not getting it. I like my buffalo horn one, but it doesn't have many color inclusions.

Mine just came in from bullgooseshaving but I haven't used it yet. Planning on using it tomorrow morning, already have a feather blade in it so it's ready to go.

So far I can say it's a beautiful handle and feels great in my hand but it is pretty slick. Phil (from bullgooseshaving) told me it's pretty mild and good for learning but you can replace the head with a Murkur.

(no affiliation with bullgooseshaving either just a very satisfied customer)

The handle is slick but the shape of it ensures that you can keep ahold of it. At least it hasn't slipped out of my hand like the Muhle R106.

Not sure you are aware, but Bullgoose Shaving has one steeply discounted right now ($35.00). I have no connection with Phil @ Bullgoose, just want to pass a great deal along. At that price, it would be hard to pass up. :tongue_sm

Thanks, the Bullgoose sale was actually the reason I posted. It looks good, no doubt....is there much difficulty in switching out heads? I think all I've got that would work now is a Merkur 23C.

No, it's not hard. The screws aren't an exact match, but it fits and you can tighten it all the way.
