Dud blade/razor combos?

I’ve had a couple of odd experiences over the last couple or weeks in my Parker 11R.

When trying both Perma-sharps and Lord Platinums for the first time, there was absolutely zero cut/tug *anything* from the blade. Popped the exact same blade into a tech, and all was normal. Never had this from a blade before where there was zero cutting action, and it got me thinking.

Has anyone had a similar experience where certain blades did absolutely nothing in a certain razor in your collection? And I mean nothing, not just a very poor inefficient shave.

(For the avoidance of any doubt, yes, I’d assembled the 3 piece correctly 😅)

Any blade I put in a Weishi 9306: absolutely nothing, nada, nichts.

I still enjoy my Van Der Hagen (which I think it is a re-branded Weishi 9306) from time to time. It was my first safety razor, purchased from Wallyworld. I do find it rather rough these days.

I didn't like the Super-Max Blue Diamond in King C. Gillette. Mild blade with mild razor = too much work and buffing.

Not quite the same but a Willy's will work great in my Pearl Flexi but the same blade in my Rex Ambassador is rough, tuggy and basically unusable.

I had a VDH TTO. Shaved ok. But the Weishi didn’t shave at all.

Not really. There's optimal and less-than-optimal, but blades are made to cut and unless you grind the edge off, they will do that. I'd consider Perma-Sharp and Lord Platinum to be pretty good blades.

Funny thing is several of the Trashed Blades sell well, have loyal buyers, and users.

People’s likes, lives, and hates are like asking Redon in NYC for recommendation of BEST BAGLE.

Ask 10 New Yorkers, will get maybe 7,or 10 BEST RECOMENDATIONS.
