Paint for razors

Gents,

Some brands like Henckels, Hess, a few others have their shank logo's not only stamped but painted as well. If im trying to replicate original as close as possible, what kind of paint should I be using? Ive tried acrylic but it seems to flake off to easy.

Anything I can pick up at a hobby shop that could work? FYI I clean all the blades with soap, water ,acetone prior to painting.

Thanks for your help!

Yes, clean it good with any metal prep to be sure oil, wax, compound etc. is gone. I lean more towards the enamels because I think they're more durable , waterproof and have a long lasting shine. Any of the Testors model paints work well and it's easy to mix your own colors. This is what I do to match the blue when I restore Dbl Duck Gold Edges. The stock blues are close,, but if you blend some you can get an exact match to the orig. color. Fussy , yeah, but that's what it's all about for me.

Enamel sounds like a plan. I like your style. Patience, time, attention to detail is what im all about too. Thanks again!

I've successfully used enamel paint on a few razors. He's a Bartmann I restored and repainted the spine. The enamel paint has last well and shows no sign of wear.

Yes, just a few nights ago I did the very same thing on this Cleveland. And not too long ago I did my Dbl Ducks and one for a friend.
Very nice work on the razor Johnmrson!
