Over scented post shave?

Post shave question:

If using something like aqua velva after a shave wouldn't the scent be overbearing if you added a balm following?

Right now after a shave I: hot water rinse, witch hazel, cold water rinse, Aqua Velva splash...then my face seems a little dry. Would it be too much to add a balm after? I see a lot of people talking about using a balm following the splash but i don't see this issue of fragrance being addressed, or maybe it's not an issue. Thanks for enlightening me.

Depends...on some people, the scent (of anything...let's say AV, for the sake of argument) is very fleeting, and a splash will fade on drying and be gone, or easily masked by a cologne. On some, the scent will stay all day. You just have to experiment to see how your body chemistry reacts to different things.

I usually do a splash, followed by a balm after the splash dries, and then maybe a cologne after all is said and done and I'm heading out the door. Today was Royall Bay Rhum as an AS, and that was it. Sometimes I'll use some SCS Bay Rum with a Twist milk if my shave was less than optimal, and sometimes just because I like it...feels good, smells good :thumbup1:.

You can also layer your scents...like today's mix on me would do well with some Ogallala Double Strength, or some Pinaud Bay Rum. Also, you can do complimentary products, like Tabac soap, then splash, then balm, then cologne...you'd be rockin' it Luftwaffe-style!
