Opinions on this light

Ya... The price is too good for what it claims to be.

It MIGHT be a halfway decent light, but personally, I stick with Fenix or Surefire. Those are two brands that I've used and trust. My Fenix 4-AA headlight is awesome.

I love my Nitecore and Olight, they use standard batteries (non rechargeable). I carry a spare one with me all the time, because you can bet that the battery goes down when you need it the most.

For the price, you can't beat the Fenix lights. I've carried one on duty for the last 3 years or so and have no intention of replacing it anytime soon. I use the TK11R2, but they have a wide variety based upon size, light output, etc.

Sometimes these cheapos end up being pretty good. I get a little worried about the really cheap China rechargeable lights because of the risk of fire.

There are lots of lights at DX that are super cheap and come out of the package really nice, or with a minor tweak end up being great lights.

My experience with DX has been pretty good. They've been reliable and the products were as described, but the shipping sometimes takes a little longer than I like.

Sometimes goldengadgets.com has some good looking cheap lights. I've never actually bought anything from them, so I can't say for sure if they're a good site. They seem to have happy customers on CPF, though.

+1 on the Fenix. Great torches and all sorts of varieties for EDC. LA police gear has a sale on the discontinued PD20, (50%) a great little midget 180 Lumen. I don't shop there as the shipping is a killer but if you are in the US, it's worth a look.

Couldn't agree more on Fenix. I have one. I love it.

Yes, DX is slooowwwwww on shipping. Heaven help you is something is backordered.

What kind of tweaks can you do to a light? I've seen a few there. What have you gotten/ done?

I'm just talking small mods to get over minor hit or miss QC/design issues that you sometimes face with torches from DX. Occasionally there are burrs in threads, some guys install homemade diffusers, replace switches, swap out o-rings to close gaps, stuff like that. Most of the time, though, if you are careful and read the reviews, you get pretty nice, reliable lights right out of the box.

The only major change I've done to a light is upgrading the Luxeon LED to a CREE LED in my old Petzl Tikka headlamp. It was well worth it. The lamp is much brighter.

It's been a long time since I've bought anything from DX or lurked around at CPF, but tonight I went to DX to browse a bit and saw that they have a US based warehouse with free shipping and 2-3 day delivery. Might be something to check out.
