Online retailers

Hey guys,

I was wondering if you have purchased goodies from 2 online retailers:

www.classicshaving.com

www.bestgroomingtools.com

If so, what has been your experience with those retailers?

Amazon has been great and all that but I feel ripped off. I paid them for their prime program and I'm supposed to get free shipping on a lot of items. Not only is the item selection limited but the free shipping items are way more expensive than other sites who do charge for shipping, the item final prices are usually what I find somewhere else + shipping but I am supposedly getting free shipping but in reality I am not :mad3:

I'd much rather pay shipping and give my business to a retailer who is upfront about charges, unlike the sneaky Amazon jerks :mad3:

Sorry for the rant

I have purchased from both and they are great! I usually order from BestGroomingTools, but that's because they are closer to my state and thus ship faster.

You're getting free shipping from Amazon, but there are third party vendors that sell through Amazon, and they will still charge you shipping.

I unfortunately get to swing by the Classic Shaving Warehouse because I drive by it all the time. It's the equivalent of wallet suicide. Great people but I wished they carried more soaps. I have never ordered online from them. I also have had good experiences with best grooming tools and would recommend them.

IMHO, Amazon isn't sneaky - they're pretty upfront about telling you if something doesn't qualify for the free shipping. Also, you can look below the pricing to see if something is sold by Amazon (and eligible for free shipping) or by another vendor.

However, for multi-line shaving related equipment, you just can't beat most of the vendors who participate on B&B. I started to list some names, but I certainly would have overlooked one or more of the top-notch people and hurt some feelings. Of the names you listed, I have done business with classicshaving.com and they are great to deal with!

Take a look in the Vendor Corner for information on many great shave-related sellers.

Best grooming tools have been good to me, as have Shaving Essentials and Bullgoose.

Do yourself a favor, create a folder in your IE favorites called Shave Shops (or something of the like) and compile all the names that people here recommend.

Amazon's ok...but small business owners like some of the ones you'll pick up on from around here are definitely a better starting point.

I have shopped at both sites, very happy with them.

I like shopping at shaving sites when I can. If these sites don't get business then they will close leaving us with only large retailer sites to shop from.

My first foray into DE stuff was from Classic. I got my Futur, some blades, and some TOBS soap. I've come a long way since, lol. Buying from them was great, and I'd do it again.

I'm also a prime member at amazon, but except for my first cheap brush, tabac and proraso, I haven't ordered any shaving gear from that site. You'll get better prices and customer service from the vendors mentioned here. I've ordered from vintage blades, bestgroomingtools, bullgoose, countryjoes, mama bear and some individual members on B/S/T and have been extremely satisfied. Unlike amazon, you'll find the all the vendors mentioned on this site knowledgeable and ready to answer questions about the products they sell.

I ordered with confidence from classicshaving.com before Christmas based on their reputation here. They did not dissappoint. As others have posted here, they were great to deal with and I am happy with my product.

Same here. First purchase for a DE and also got my straight from there. It's a great company and they are very customer-friendly.

There are a lot of great online vendors for this little hobby.

I have done business with Classicshaving.com and found them very reputable. But, my business of choice would be Westcoastshaving.com . I find that their pricing is unbeatable.

+1 to Classic and West Coast Shaving. I have ordered from them and they are really good. I like the one stop shopping you can do at West Coast Shaving, and they have all the stuff I like at good prices.

I've purchased from both of those sites, though I've bought from BestGroomingTools.com more often because they are closer, and therefore I gets mah stuff faster :biggrin1: I highly recommend both.
