On (more than) good customer service

Just wanted to share this: a month or so ago I broke my Parker 89R while gently tapping it to remove the stubble and lather. The screw/peg that goes from the top piece through the comb and shaft broke cleanly, as if it had fallen.

As it was more than a year that I had bought it (warranty extends to 6 months) I wrote to www.safetyrazors.co.uk, where I bought it, to ask if it was a common trait in this model, in which case I would buy a different one, or it was rare, in which case I'd buy the same model, which I loved.

Got a quick response from Dave Glynn, in which he told me of several Spanish customers with the same problem, which he attributed to water with a very aggressive treatment -and I swear it sounds... well, sound.

Anyway, Dave just sent me a different model (Parker 90R, a TTO Razor) free of charge.

He didn't have to, but he did. I love when people know their craft; this goes beyond it. So I just thought I'd share with you guys.

BTW, I read the 90R reviews -all of them, good and not so good- but I can certify I've just had today one of the best shaves in my life. It's a beautiful little machine.:001_cool:

It's good to know that businesses still care about customer service! Not to mention, they have to know that you'll turn around and share your story, positive or negative, onto a forum or blog. It would be silly not to provide the quality service as it's free advertising! :001_smile

It's always good to hear about vendors who provide excellent service, it certainly motivates me to extend my patronage their way.

Thanks for sharing good news, mostly people only get motivated to say something when they are complaining. It's good to hear praise.

Don't tap your razor. Bad. Bad.

I'd add: it's good to find gentlemen.

Yes, I know... I'm reeducating my shaving on that. :blushing:

+1

Why tap a DE? Tapping is supposed to "dislodge" the gunk, but when there is only one blade, where is the gunk getting lodged?

As opposed to one of my house mates who pounds his cart razor on the sink like a blacksmith forging horseshoes.

In my defence... I only gently tapped it, Sir. I swear. :blushing: Anyway, I won't do it from now on. A TTO is way more fragile than my previous 3-piece razor.
