Omega help for girlfriends dad

Hello ,

My girlfriends dad is in need of a new brush. He is old school Italian, likes Italian things and likes things a certain way. He uses an Omega brush currently that he absolutely loves and after trying to get him to use a Rooney Pure badger 3/1 he thinks it is too scratchy and hates how it blooms out. He currently has this brush he uses and absolutely loves

I wanted to get him something a bit nicer than that one but would be an upgrade. He doesn't want anything but a boar brush. Any one have suggestions? I thought getting him a silvertip Rooney 1/1 would be nice, but again he doesn't like how badger brushes bloom out and he wants things a certain way, rather than switching him over I figured to keep it to a boar brush.

You might possibly be one of the bravest men alive... you are gonna tell an old school Italian that what he likes, isn't what he likes and he should use a different brush. All while dating his daughter... oof.

Good luck in finding that brush.

Have you used it before? Is it soft? Does it lather good?

Soon as I can get my hands on one. This is like the holy grail of Omega brushes. Zach, a member at SMF(?), owns countless brushes from the cheap to the insane and considers this to be one of the best brushes out there. Do a google search of omega 31064 and you will find a wealth of praise and info. You could also change it up and get him a Boreal also from Italy.

Actually, it was his daughter that insisted, I just tried to get him a good old Rooney based on her price range for his birthday. After he used it he said it was wwaayy to scratchy and he hated how it bloomed. I figured to get the guy a nicer Omega. I have to say, I was impressed with how soft the boar brush was.

Yes I came across that site obviously per my link right below yours, I meant more if there was a brush specifically you may have had experience with and absolutely loved. Thanks though!

I use an Omega 10051 and it's fantastic - makes Tabac and all of my shaving sticks explode with lather. It's not all that great with creams though. I specifically wanted a shorter loft boar for soaps. So if your g/f's dad uses soaps, get a short-loft boar. If he uses creams, go for a longer loft (or one of those pimpin Omega Lucretia Borgia badger) brushes.

He uses creams more. Thanks for the heads up.

I just bought the one he has in white and not the chrome. Though it is only my 2nd brush I really like it. I cant ever think how I would ever need anything more. It makes more lather then I need and makes it very quickly. He sounds like a very practical person something nicer may not float his boat. Good luck with your hunt.

If the guy is in love with boar brushes just respect that; I have been looking for badgers at least as good as my best boars and didn't succeed.

So concentrate on a nice handle. Vulfix has nice boars too with better handles IMO but if the guy is Italian you might better stick to Omega. In my little collection there is also a nice Il Ceppo boar but I think they make only badgers now.
