What's new

old straights

hey guys, i was helping a family friend clean out his garage today, and we came across 6 of his dads straights. he was going to throught them away. (he wouldn't let me take them, thought i would kill myself) but then i told him i could probly find a buyer on here. they were all used in a barbershop at one point and need some restoration work. figured i would post this on the straight forum to figure out if i was right that we had buyers before posting on the BST...

You've gotta keep at least one for yourself, even if you never use it (nice display case maybe?). After all, they were your grandpa's.

not my grandpa's, a family friends father. and i was hoping that my mom would buy one... however i would also need the strop and to find the correct angle for sharpening, strop oil and also stone oil...

it happens, lol. i'll try to get some pics tomorow... they've been in his garage for 20 yrs. but are still sharp. some are rusted at the hinge but not all... all have cases, but the cases are beat to bits... however the razors themselves are atleast 30 yrs old so i guess that might be expected

no cracks on the blades, or scales or anypart for that matter, and i'll try to get pictures tomorrow, no promises though. i don't entirely know what i have planned for tomorrow lol

I don't know if I'm on the other side of the globe but most of them are upside down...

and yea, lol, i'm in ohio lol, sorry about that. um, want me to try to repost the pictures?

Nah that's all right.

For how much what is worth... Well, there might be a brand that sticks out of the others in there. I didn't really see but as they are not shave ready either, I'm not sure you can get much for those. I don't think you should sell them. Have them honed and try them.
