Old Spice "Fresh" Differences

The OS Fresh AS was one of my favorites about 10 years ago. Combined with canned Gillette and Good News, it dried up my face, but I didn't know any better.

Recently, I've smelled the soap and deo with the same name but to my nose they smells totally different, more generic.

Does anyone know if the AS has something the others don't have?

Last summer I saw a bottle of the Fresh aftershave while stopping in a grocery store on vacation. I still regret not snatching it since now the only Old Spice aftershave I can find locally is the classic scent.

The Red Zone fresh (formerly High Endurance, and then High Endurance Red Zone, and maybe other names) has been my favorite AP/Deo for years. I wish they made an aftershave that smelled like this stuff.

Speaking of which, Old Spice had some face washes and aftershaves they were making for a while. I guess they weren't popular enough as they seem to have fallen by the wayside.

I love Old Spice Fresh. I was able to snag a set with the Fresh Cologne and deo. I think it is from the late 80's or early 90's and it still smells great.
Fresh was the first deo and aftershave I ever used, and my grandfather also used Fresh so the scent brings back great memories.
The current Fresh aftershave still smells great, just like I remember it doesn't dry me out and it has that great burn. The fresh body wash does smell different.

Thanks for the replies guys (and the awesome pic!). I want to buy some Fresh AS so bad but I'm looking at the AS that's starting to pile up in my shave den (8 not including balms) and thinking if it's not THAT different maybe I should just settle for the soap or deodorant. We'll see what happens. :001_cool:

This thread is awesome. I'm looking forward to the day when my grandson comes to visit me at the senior home and updates me about the debate raging on B&B about the difference between vintage and reformulated Old Spice Swagger. I'll chuckle to myself as I chew my mush.

Don't forget vintage and reformulated Axe.

We should ask joel about organizing a group buy for a senior home so we can all live together and talk about such things.

I loved Old Spice Fresh until Procter and Gamble took over and kicked it in the shorts.

My local Right Aid sells the Fresh scent, the only place I can find it. I'm really happy that OS still makes it. The body wash and deo are definitely a different scent than the AS.

OS Fresh AS smells great out of the bottle. After it dries down all I can smell is something very powdery. Not a huge fan of it on my skin. I used to love it, but we've grown apart. Probably due to finding other Aftershaves that I enjoy more. The bottle I have is made out of glass and it does state on the back "Trademark Logo Owned by Shulton" but I believe it's made by P&G. It's the old bottle with the Ship instead of the Yacht though. Probably one of the last bottles before P&G repackaged and reformulated.

Found this full bottle recently for 50 cents. Not bad, huh? 1993 Shulton, distributed by P&G. It's a nice change of pace, but no way will it replace the regular OS I love so much.
