Old Gillette super thin

I had an old Gillette super thin blade that came in a 60's era travel tech case that I decided to try yesterday. I unwrapped it and it still looked like new, I could not see any rust by eye at all so I tried it. I had to toss it, it was a "rip your face off" shave like I get with something like lords.

Just wondering if these ever had a good reputation, the old super thins.

I remember having had a couple of Gillette Thin blades (not super thin) from the fifties, two 10-packs to be more precise. These were my grandfather's. I had found one of the two tucks unopened between screwdrivers, rasps and hammers in his basement, the other one was opened, together with his shaving equipment (which unfortunately at the time I found it consisted solely of some electric mowers and other rubbish, no DE razor). However, the blades I found with the razors gave me some smooth DFS, while those from the unopened "basement tuck", even if inspecting them by the naked eye looked just perfect, were some of the worst I have ever used. Under the microscope blade od thos two tucks looked dramatically different though. The "basement blades" were laking tiny bits at the edge, maybe 1/10 of a hair diameter or so. Although there was no rust visible I assume that this was a clear case of corrosion. It was really amazing that the "bathroom blades" had not a single pit in the edges I had inspected. This was a while ago (about 15 years) and I had no idea about the actual age of the blades, so that I then had tossed the "basement blades" and used up almost all "bathroom blades"! A couple of weeks ago I had used another one of those which still was fine, but I will keep the remaining two, just to see how they will perform in fourty years.

Hmm, maybe mine was corroded like that a tiny bit along the edge. I don't have a magnifying glass so won't ever know. I was really expecting a very nice shave on it, but as old as it is it is I should have expected it.
