What's new

OH NO not AGAIN, RAD CURE, Merkur Progress

I have had my razor less than a week and third shave, thus far the best shaves I've ever gotten, even though I've said that about all my new toys, but this time somehow different. First pass I use fairly aggressive with the grain at 4.5 then across I back down to 3.5 against 2.5 and slight buffing 2, produces a smooth non-sensitive BBS shave every time. Two things I don't like is the slick handle and unpainted numbers, for the price it would seem they could paint the numbers like they did years ago on the vintage models. I believe this will disturb my RAD significantly, and thus further hurting the economy. Now, does anyone know who can paint on numbers that will-not come off, baked on or something? Great Razor just wish I had bought one several hundred dollars back so I could have bought more soap, cream, scuttles, blades, and brushes. LOL

Have to agree with you. I get the closest shaves I have ever gotten with my recently acquired Progress. Having said that though, I just had to order a Futur to compare...

Yea, I KNOW. I've been thinking that same thing, God help us, this was gonna SAVE MONEY. Wife says she's still waiting on the savings to kick in. LOL

Try this...http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/330167-Re-painting-the-numbers-on-a-adjustable-razor and http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/333658-New-MERGRESS-Wow!/page2

I have a new Mergress (long handle) and I intend on painting the numbers as well.

Regards,

Jason

That dog is named Wishbone. He was our neighbour's dog and we were the dog sitters when they went away. He's a Jack Russell mutt. I think some beagle and/or spaniel mixed in. He was a rescue dog. Anyway, he barked one too many times with the new baby in the house so he was shipped off to Newfoundland with relatives. Too bad cuz I miss the little guy. Great dog!

I've had the wife lay into me about buying shaving gear too. Lol. I'm trying to buy a Fatboy without her knowledge so I can add to my gillette collection. I'm tempted to go back to Fusion cartridge razors just to demonstrate the expense. Damn....

You are asking for it brother. Those wives can be a handfull, especialy when that mouth gets in gear. I've been married 43 years and I found it's easier to get forgiven than get permission, I think back to the year two thousand when I bought a NEW FORD SUPERDUTY WITH A POWERSTROKE diesel. It was hot around here for a couple days. Just go ahead and buy the Fatboy and tell her DEW made you do it, that is mountain dew.

I'm married to Capt. Killjoy of the Funcops and recently was told that she "creeped" me here on this site! She told me me she read MANY of my posts and now she understands this hobby a little more. She sees the passion and brotherhood that this online-community produces and tells me that if I'm happy; she's happy too!

Fantastic razor!
i have been using a Sharpie very fine point permanent marker. It is all right, but the paint wears after a bit. i tried using nailpolish, but it was too messy.
Good luck.

I'll see how that goes. I don't know anybody that can say no to "the 'Dew". If you end up painting the numbers, be sure to show us some pics. I think the painted numbers looks great on the Mergress. I'll eventually get around to doing it.

the military sometimes uses a white crayon to fill in the serial numbers on firearms for better visibility. Just scribble over the indented numbers, filling in the groves then wipe off the excess leaving only the filled numbers. looks good on a gun, will probably do in a pinch on a razor. of course there are other colours then white as well. Use your imagination.

Thanks I'll try that, but I think the grooves aren't deep enough, those serial # on arms are pretty deep.

I'm do to receive my mergress very soon and the numbers will have to be painted? With my bad eyes I best figure out how to make the adjustment soon. :biggrin1:

FYI...In case this is your first Mergress/Progress...The slightest adjustment of the dial makes a noticeable difference in how aggressive the razor becomes. I made only quarter turns and the difference is readily apparent. Ultimately, it's just an awesome razor, IMO.

I love my progress. It's a wonderful razor, and I've been getting good shaves with it every day. :)
So the questions is... Do I need to shave every day? Some would say no.
The second question is... Do I want to shave every day? Definitely!!!
