So, I have this Black Beauty,and the date stamp says R-R. Anyone ever seen a double letter stamp? Just a factory mistake? Maybe it has a special significance.

they did stamp some R-R with an R where the number should be. I don't find them particularly intriguing.

There were some amount of shenanigans going on in the Gillette production line there at the beginning of 1971. We've seen some razors stamped with "Q" date codes even though it ought to have been skipped. And it seems like they made up for that error by double "R" stamping some, too -- "Oh, he wants Rs, does he? I'll give him Rs."
