What's new

Nussbaum Pen Co.

I just ran across these pens, and thought they looked pretty nice, especially for the price. They come with a leather pen sleeve or case (depending on the model), as well. Anyone try one of these or know anything about them?

They do look nice, but I'm wondering what type of nib they use and how it performs? Not expensive though, let us know how it writes Andy, you know you want to pick it up ;-)

It's an actual German nib. It comes with a Schmidt converter, so I would imagine that's the nib maker.

I have other research that is requiring funds at the moment. I just thought it would be a good, reasonably priced option for someone.

Nussbaum Pens is the new "house brand" for Todd Nussbaum of isellpens.com, a very well respected online pen merchant. From what I've read and seen (online only) of these pens, they seem to be very well made and certainly are an excellent bargain. I assume Todd has these manufactured to his specifications overseas(?) and fitted with German nibs. I'm definitely interested in seeing one of these in person and would certainly consider a purchase. I'm hoping I get to see some at the DC Super Show in August. If they live up to my expectations, I probably will be adding at least one to my collection.

I received mine in Black Cherry on April 8. It is comfortable to hold and writes extremely smoothly. Currently, they are only available with medium nibs, but I find the medium nib to be closer to a fine nib. This is one of my favorite pens bar none! I like it better than my Conklin Mark Twain and better than my Franklin Christoph pens.

The pens I love are my Nussbaum, Pelikan, TWSBI, Monteverde, Pilot Metropolitan, Platinum Plasir, Kaweco Ice Sport, Levenger, Visconti, and Lamy.

The pens that are currently being fussy are my Conklin Mark Twain and my Franklin Christoph.

The pen I hated was my Noodler's Ahab Flex. I hated this pen more than brianw hates TWSBI pens.

They are nice looking pens. I picked up a Noodler's Konrad a couple months ago, and out of the box, it was the worst fountain pen I'd ever used. I eventually spent a couple hours adjusting the nib, and since then, it has performed without issues. It is certainly a pen for someone with a lot of patience.

I spent a few hours with mine, as well, and I ended up sending back to Goulet Pen Co. because I never could get it to write.

I got my crappy Konrad from Nussbaum. I may stick a firecracker in mine and try to get my money's worth.

Make a video please,... and take pictures, and if you could find a way to put some noodlers red ink in it, or some red paint that would be great too

you know for scientific research,... as in what happens when you put a firecracker in a konrad with red ink. It may help others in the future

I have a LE Dixie #10. I love the look, but apparently the only way to make it a usable pen is to stick a different nib in it. I may try one of those Goulet nibs, we'll see.

I've blown other pens up before (Parker, oh shame!). The Konrad will be easy once the filler is removed.

Bright ink sounds fun flying through the air!

Be sure to get that High Speed photography guy from Flickr to take pics... you know, the guy who does the lightbulbs filled with paint, flowers, and other fun things...

Don't they make those hobby rocket engines small enough to fit into the body of a pen? Anyone can put a firecracker in there. Can you make one fly, that's the question ?
