Numbers on DE razors?

Correction: subject should read, "Numbers on DE blades," not "razors."

every blade I've used, there are a 1 and 2 on one side, and a 3 and 4 on the other. Do they mean anything? I've taken to inserting my blades with the 1 and 2 facing the handle on the chance that they do. Are the numbers there for users or are they put onto the blades during their manufacture for some part of the manufacturing process? Obviously not a pressing question, just something I've been wondering about since I noticed :p

These numbers are used in the manufacturing process as to which edges are polished etc. No difference as to how they are used.

You use 1 on Mondays, 2 on Tuesdays, etc. 4 you use on Fridays when there is a full moon and the stock market ended up. Just kidding. They're just manufacturing marks and have no bearing on how to use it. What kind of blade is it?

Welcome to Badger and Blade!

It's a great question that does get asked every so often. Keep them coming! I am sure a lot of lurkers wondered the same thing but hesistated to ask

Wait until you start contemplating flipping the blade over every other day to maximize the edge, or wondering if you should dry out the blade after every shave ;-)

The blade manufacturers have a complicated traffic-based affiliate arrangement with the shaving forums and Google. If they stopped putting the numbers on the blades, the whole internet would probably grind to a halt.

It's how many times Hef did the Playmate of the Month...really....a guy who worked there told my cousin's parole officer...wait, that's something else
