Numbers on Astra blades

T

Thumrait

I've never used a safety razor before and I just got my first one (a Gillette Slim Adjustable) and an assortment pack of blades. The first pack I grabbed was some Astra Superiors so I figured I'd start with them. There are numbers printed on the blades in the corners, a 1 and 2 on one side, and a 3 and 4 on the other side. Do they mean anything? And there are 4 circles on one side, they look like glue spots. Do they do something?

Welcome!

The numbers mean nothing to the end user (as mentioned above). They are put there by the manufacturer as part of their quality control.

The 4 circles are wax/glue spots put there by the manufacturer to prevent the blade from shifting in its paper wrapping. It appears to be a way to prevent the blade from dulling during wrapping/packing/transportation (the edge can't rub against the paper).
