What's new

No ammunition? Crummy weather? No worries.

Yep, I am seeing a lot of ATF in those bottles. I mix Ed's up by the gallon. After about 15k shells this Browning needed a soak.

The Red I mixed up was:
1 Qt Mobile 1
1 Qt ATF
1 can STP
1 Lg Bottle Hoppes #9

The Ed's Red receipe I know is equal parts of automatic transmission fluid, kerosene, mineral spirits, and acetone. Like I posted earlier, I leave out the acetone. I have soaked some fine firearms in the 3 part mix and never caused any damage.

I have soaked several older guns with gummed up actions from dried up old oil. They went back to working correctly after a overnight soak.

That's the Ed's Red Dip I remember. I think I remember the addition of lanolin?

Yes, I believe lanolin was in it. The only lanolin I have on hand is Fluid Film and Woolwax. I guess a dollop of either wouldn't hurt since they are rust prevention products.
