Let's see what July brings, there were some great June acquisitions last month! I'm tapped out with a vintage automobile restoration, nuthin' for me.

I just won this at auction last night...obviously haven't received it yet, but hope to have it by the weekend.

It's a WASP Clipper, a sub-brand of the W. A. Sheaffer Pen Co. from the late 1930s. This particular pattern is one I've been looking for quite a while. It's called by collectors either "Birdseye" or "Screaming Souls in Purgatory." I prefer the "Screaming Souls" name! :tongue_sm It will need a good cleaning and a new ink sac before it's ready for use. Other than that, it looks to be in good shape. Once I receive it and get it cleaned up, I'll post some more photos.

NICE!!! I vote for "screaming souls" as well!

I may have to track down one of those as a gift for my priest. Perhaps it will prove inspirational for drafting the Sunday homily...

The more I look at this pen, the more I love it....it does look like birdseye grain in a pipe, but the whole "screaming souls" does have a cool ring to it :)

Schaeffer Imperial II (F nib) in burgandy arrived in today's mail. After a flush, it was promptly filled with Franklin-Christoph Syrah Syrah. A great match, if not terribly original.

The Touchdown filling system is pretty slick. I like features on pens that just work (especially after 40 or 50 years in storage), and don't require a great deal of fiddling.

And Cartier - that Parker set is truly sweet...

I love a good Burgundy. My 51 is in burgundy and I love it. That is a great pen there.

I need to get on board with the Schaeffer club. Let me know how it writes.

Nice 45 Flighter set. Don't they look just like they are lying in a coffin? So peaceful. So natural.

I stopped by "Sharon's" while walking home on the first. She said, "I was just thinking of you!" "Wad I do?" "Nothing," she replied, "I found these in the back." So I pick through and set a bunch aside...

Top is an Esterbrook lever fill desk pen. Needs a new sack.
Left: 1 Sheaffer vacuum fill, but pre snorkle. Everything seems to work fine.
2 Beige, "Buckskin" Parker 51, dated 1945 I think. Works fine.
3 Parker 45, fine nib with converter.
4 Very small no-name pen - pencil combo. Pencil works, pen needs a sack.
5 Epenco "cheapo". Probably a sack project.
6 Moore, Black. Maniflex nib, project pen.
7 Morrison, incised plastic / ? Still had price band, needs sack. Has some heft.
8 Moore, celluloid. Now holding water oK.
9 Esterbrook, Black Dollar pen.
10 Champion (?) third tier pen
Pencils
11 A Turquoise Parker ball point ( Jotter?). Interesting thibng is it has a pencil lead refill cartridge inside, instead of ink. The lead goes in and out by clicking the button. I've never seen one before.
12 Wearever, nice and hefty
13 Mini "Treasure" purse pencil
14 The Big Blue Parker 21 I actually a few weeks ago ($20)
15 Not pictured a Parker Stainless pencil
16 Last but not least
$airpress.jpg
a Tombow "Airpress" ball point. When you click the clicker it pressurizes the chamber with the ink cartridge,so you can write under water, upside down, in an Apollo capsule... (I'm hoping on the back of credit card receipts.)

Sharon says she has more and she'd be willing to barter the pens for gift certificates for my restaurant. I'm thinking about it...
