Just received a 1965 K2 slim that I scored on BST. As a newbie who has only used a Merkur 33c and a few different blades. Who feels like throwing some pointers/advice/recommendations my way? Including technique advice with the new razor, which blades you think may work well with it and any other useful information for a newbie with his first vintage/adjustable.

Start low 2-3 before you fire it up. And open the silo doors before you adjust.

+1 on opening the doors and starting low. But that being said, I love mine set to 9, so don't be afraid to dial it up quickly if you feel as though it will work for you. Also don't be afraid to change the settings between passes. You can either decrease or increase between passes, depending on how your shave is going / how your face is feeling.

I totally agree on the 9. But starting out, low and slow.
On my first shave with a Slim, I followed peoples advice and started at a 2-3. By the end of the shave I was already up to a 6-7. Now that I've shaved with it a while I leave it on a 7-8. For me, anything less than that is a waste of time.

I will give her a quick test run tomorrow and let you guys know where I end up. I have only been wet shaving about a month with the Merkur, so I don't want to be to ambitious right out of the gate.
