What's new

New Wosten "Home"

Picked up this frameback Wosty in pretty sad shape a week or so ago. Some thought that the original horn scales would be salvageable, but alas, they were beyond redemption, and were absolutely shattered.

here is a quick before:

the scales show much better than they actually were...

Now in some black MOP Kirinite (its what I had on hand.

Now for the Viewers Choice decision.

With the original banner from the scales:

or without...

The lettering is in so-so shape, and the banner definitely shows its age. The blade has been left intentionally with some patina on it as well, to highlight the age of the piece. Also, being a frameback, the blade is pretty thin, no good way to get all of the pitting out without compromising the integrity of the blade.

Those are pretty tight looking scales.

Thanks. Im kinda partial to the material myself. although, the scales that I originally made for this razor have much nicer figure in them. Unfortunately, they ended up too short, and are now on one of my (many) Wade and Butcher's. Only issue I have with this particular material, is that the outside skin has NO figure at all, and unless you thin it down, you would not reveal the figure inside. When it arrived, I was quite disappointed at the appearance of the product.

Moral of the story, Don't judge the Kirinite by its outer skin.....

any acrylic scales that have a design in them do that... I usually look at my inside scale to figure what the outside scale will show... even then its a crap shoot if you want to get both sides matching

I say with. At the very least, do not throw it out since you will likely want to add it at some point in the near future.
