New-type Open Combs other than the New?

My understanding is that one of the big improvements of the Gillette New is that the blade now hovers above the open comb, rather than resting directly on top of it.

I've been wanting to try a razor like that, with an open comb and a depression under the blade edge. I assumed that the Aristocrat (which came after the New) would have that head design, but now that I hold one in my hand it seems that the blade rests directly on the tines of the open comb.

Modern Merkur open combs also seem to have the blade resting on the tines.

What razors, other than the New, have open combs and a depression under the blade like a safety bar?

Ideally, I'd like to find a TTO open comb that handles similarly to my '51 Super Speed, but I'm also just curious in general.

I have a Tuckaway (NEW Improved open comb) that seems halfway between a NEW & an OLD as far as blade gap...an outstanding shaver as well!

I would have sworn a week ago the New Improved was unbeatable as a shaver....then I picked up a New Deluxe!!! Hands down (for me) the New Deluxe is the finest shaving head made!! Nothing wrong with the New....It just takes third place in my book! :tongue_sm

I agree.
In fact, I believe the British NEW is the culmination of the NEW Deluxe.
Superior head geometry + better build quality = a superlative shaver.

What you are looking for are the English Aristocrat OC's:tongue_sm

I don't find a great diffrerence between the 3 pc NEW Deluxe Head and the 3 pc English NEW head. Either one is a great shaver and probably superior to any TTO OC. IMHO.

Although the Aristo is gorgeous and hideously expensive, but I do love my #88 with Swedes.

That's a good lookin' kit.
If it was silver plated I'd jump all over it.
