Next time add a picture of the lather as well. But it looks like you had a good shave.

Part of the joy of this, is learning how to get the lather just right (for me at lest...) If the lather is to runny to much water, add more product. If it's dry add more water... TOBS is easy to lather. But being 5 shaves in, you are just starting. It took me a long time to learn to make really good lather. Trail and error as to how much cream/water you need is part of the fun!

Agreed. TOBS creams tend to differ in their consistency, so it takes experimentation to get the lather right for each one. Mr. Taylor, for instance, is much firmer than Eton College. If it was "soapy," it sounds like it was a little too wet. Just remember that you can always add water, but you can't take it out.

I just got my first jar of TOBS last week myself. I shaved with it over the weekend and I LOVE it! I used a bit too much, loaded with a barely damp brush and face lathered. I wet the tips of my brush until I had the lather right and had a bunch leftover. I got the Lemon Lime and while it looked a little firmer, once I got it on the brush it proved to be about the same consistency as Goop hand cleaner. To be honest that was a little off putting at first, but it really did make a great lather. I look forward to trying their other scents!
