new to pipe smokin

So Ive picked up on a few things that ive noticed while smoking my pipel isted as follows.

1 your going to light it more then two times
2 take slow puffs so that way you can taste the blend other wise the bowls going to be hot and its gonna taste pretty nasty
3 take your time
4 dont smoke in the house your wife will yell ha
5 a good bowl will last awhile
6 have fun with it and just relax

Very good points. #1 is not a problem. Re-lights are OK. I think some guys have the same problem with that as they do with not wanting to go back to the puck and re-load for a 2nd or 3rd pass. There is no rule that anything has to be one and done! #4, you just need to find a nice aromatic for the missus to enjoy and then she'll back off on the other less fragrant 'baccy. #6 is the best point!

I think 1 & 2 is where it went wrong for me the first time around, almost 25 years ago.. I was afraid it'd go out, so I puffed the heck out of it to keep it going. Nice hand warmer, but it tasted terrible and made my mouth hurt.. and gave me a headache. Ah.. to be 19 and dumb again..

I think some guys have the same problem with that as they do with not wanting to go back to the puck and re-load for a 2nd or 3rd pass.

I lucked out on #4. I smoke Virginia/Latakia blends and the wife actually likes the smell of Latakia. She likes Lilac Vegetal, too. Of course, LV smells like courage and gunpowder, so she probably is won over by the manliness of it all
