What's new

New synthetic brush...fan or bulb?

Finally decided I 'need' a new brush.
Probably will be an AP Shave 28mm SynBad (or maybe SilkSmoke?)
I like the look of the fan knot.
Any thoughts on good/bad between the bulb/fan? The SilkSmoke in 28mm is only bulb knot though.
And yes...I do want a 28mm. Currently use mainly Yaqi synthetics.
Have a few 24mm, but don't like or use them now.
Have the 26mm Yaqi Rainbow, Pony knot and it's 'almost' there. Good sized handle too.
I'm thinking I would enjoy a 28mm (but prefer a change from Yaqi now) so AP Shave seems the way to go for me.
I face lather, and normally just lather up the brush in the soap tub (Stirling at the moment).
So there you go...fan or bulb...your thoughts?
TIA.

I’m a “fan” of bulb knots, if you will. 😂

26-28mm is the sweet spot for me too. Plenty of lather building area without feeling like an Alien Facehugger is taking over my being.

Though I do like the 24mm Yaqi Sagrada Familia for travel.

Almost there?! Whaaaa! That’s like one of my favorite brushes! 😂

So soft...perfect face lathers every time!

The problem with the fan shape is the surface area will be huge for the larger knot sizes. PAA has a hybrid knot shape in the Roswell Grey knot (very similar to Silksmoke knot). Look at the 24mm Starcraft, 24mm Peregrino or 26mm Phantom Aerolite brushes and see what you think.

Problem sorted...I bought both.
AP Shave 28mm SynBad bulb, and fan.
I'm sure I will enjoy them.
(There's no such thing as 'too many' brushes is there?).

I have several synthetic AP brushes. None disappoint.
